The bylaws are the governing document of the Travis County Archeological Society. On May 11, 2006 members approved the first revisions to the bylaws in twenty years. Pat Mercado-Allinger, May Schmidt, and Carolyn Spock formed the ad hoc committee that drafted the revisions.
Under the new bylaws, the website is placed under the auspices of the Communications Committee, along
with the newsletter, mass media, list server, and other forms of communication. The Field Committee is responsible for fieldwork and outreach opportunities. The new bylaws also place a stronger emphasis on archeological ethics. Finally, a number of minor changes were incorporated to reflect current practices or simply to clean up the document.
